Every now and again I get a little creative bee in my bonnet and decide to redisign my blog. It is kinda like spring cleaning. without the requirement for spring. and without anything getting any cleaner. But you [might] know what I mean ;-)
At any rate, a little while ago I bothered Thomas over at Walk the Wilderness Blog (a fabulous site and if you have never seen it, your life is poorer for it). So, I bugged Thomas until he patiently taught me how to adjust my html layout settings so that I could stretch my blog out to make use of the whole screen space.
Quite pleased with the new stretched look, I put together a new banner with - of course - my bird of the moment, the Alpine Accentor. (I rather not start talking of them 'cos I am likely to start bla bla bla-ing on about them...). So I designed the new banner on my macbook and mozilla, hoping that it would display correctly on other computers.

This afternoon, I was using another laptop at a training course I was on, and on both windows laptops I was using, my blog was displayed with a chopped off banner (something like that above).
How does my banner and blog display on your computer, and are there any other things that look like they have either been designed badly (which is a distinct possibility) or that they are not displaying correctly?
Looks like I am back to the html drawing board...
Happy birding (and thanks for your help).

Hello Dale. It looks good but you should take into account not many people have screens which are wide enough to accommodate this. Most have older screens or laptops. Sorry blogger friend, maybe it is back to the drawing board. :)
I have IE6 and it's chopped off.

The whole thing shows on mine. I only have a 17 inch monitor but everything is up to date, as far as my computer goes. Just have to scroll over a bit. I like it!
Hi Dale. Looks fine on my 17" laptop with IE7 providing you view full screen.
I would be very interested to know how you achieved this.
Hi Dale,
Thanks for stopping by my Journey Through Grace. You have a wonderful blog here too. I am viewing on an iMac using Firefox 3.0.9 and can see the entire header just fine. I like to do some "redesigning" occasionally too. I also use the stretch format, and enjoy it as well.
Oh, and the bird on my header is an Eastern Bluebird. :c)

looks fine, I tried it with firefox, ie7, opera, and google chrome on my 24 inch monitor

Looks fine Dale. Like it a lot.

Hi Dale,
I am coming over here through my laptop, which has IE7 and your blog displays absolutely fine. I'll check this through my desktop later and comment if there is any problem.
I too am keen to 'explore possibilities' of stretching the layout as you have done - so a post about how to do it would be greatly appreciated!
I just added reciprocated a link to you. Thanks for adding mine to your blogroll!
Hi Dale,
I guess this mainly depends on the definition of the screen and the number of inches. Your blog is fine on my laptop 17-inch screen, and fine on our 19 desktop and on my wife desktop....
No problems with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.9 and 17" monitor here.
When I view while on Mozilla, it's fine, but if I open while on AOL, I have to make sure the page is maximized or it gets cut off. Nice header...I especially like the everything-elsing:)
Hi all,
Thank you sooo much for all responding (and even checking it out on various screens/browsers), I really appreciate it!!!
I'd be happy to write a short blog post some time with some (minor/simple) tips that I have picked up regarding blogger layout settings. (unless Thomas would rather do it?)
I have had very little time to spend quietly enjoying my computer over the past few days, the birding here has been going off!!! (to borrow a term from my surfing days ;-)
Chopped off on my laptop, I would recommend redesign if some users get the chopped view.
Hey Dale,
Looks fine on my desktop - I have IE8 and I don't actually know how big my monitor is in inches - measured with a ruler it's about 41cm diagonally and 32cm across the bottom!! :-)
Anyway it looks good - I often wonder why blogs take up such a small area of the screen - this makes much more sense :-)
Cheers,
Hoffies x
Your banner runs off of my screen, but I can pull the bar at the bottom over to see the rest of it.
BTW, I'm using IE7 on a WinXP PC.
